Herkomst en achtergrond

Oilalà Italiano (formerly Queen) comes from Puglia, in Southern Italy, and is made by the Borraccino family. This oil is made from 100% Italian olives and is intended for daily use: not as an oil you only bring out for a special occasion, but as a staple in the kitchen and at the table.

The oil is a blend of four olive varieties from the region: Coratina, Peranzana, Leccino, and Ogliarola. Powerful varieties, such as Coratina, are blended with olive varieties that make the oil rounder and softer. This results in a full-bodied, accessible oil that doesn't immediately overpower your entire dish.

The olives are harvested at the end of October and beginning of November with an abbacchiatore, an electrically vibrating fork. Afterwards, they are pressed and centrifuged within 6 hours in Oilalà's own frantoio.

Veelgestelde vragen

Is this the same oil as the Oilalà Italiano 750 ml bottle?

Yes. This 3-liter bag-in-box is specially filled for The Olive Label with the same Oilalà Italiano extra virgin olive oil as the 750 ml bottle. So you get the same oil, but in a practical package for daily use.

Is 3 liters of olive oil not too much for home use?

If you finish it within 4 to 5 months (before the best-before date), then 3 liters is perfect. If you use extra virgin olive oil daily in the kitchen and at the table, then 3 liters is not a lot. The bag-in-box also helps to protect the oil well during use, better than a bottle.

Why is this olive oil in a bag-in-box?

A bag-in-box protects olive oil from light and limits contact with air. As you tap the oil, the inner bag contracts vacuum. This keeps the oil better protected than in an opened bottle.

Is a bag-in-box better than a bottle?

For daily use, a bag-in-box has clear advantages. The oil is packed light and airtight, you can easily tap the right amount (or into a small bottle), so it's easy to dispense. A bottle looks good on the table, but for ample use in the kitchen, a bag-in-box is often more practical.

What do you use Oilalà Italiano for?

For cold and warm use. Think of salads, tomatoes, bread, pasta, potatoes, vegetables, soup, legumes, and warm dishes. This oil is intended for people who use good extra virgin olive oil daily and generously.

Is this oil mainly intended for cooking?

The strength of this oil lies primarily in the combination: beautiful enough for the table, practical enough for generous use in the kitchen.

Oilalà Italiano is an excellent extra virgin olive oil for both cold and warm use. You can use it in the kitchen for frying and roasting, but it's certainly not just intended as an oil for the pan. Especially over salads, bread, vegetables, pasta, and warm dishes, you can really taste the quality.

How do you best store this bag-in-box?

Store the box in a cool, dark place, for example, in a kitchen cupboard or pantry. Do not place it next to the stove or in direct sunlight. This way, the oil remains better protected from heat, light, and air. Tip: fill a smaller bottle for daily use in the kitchen and at the table.

Who is this 3-liter bag-in-box a good choice for?

For anyone who already knows Oilalà Italiano from the 750 ml bottle, or for those who use good Italian extra virgin olive oil daily. The bag-in-box is practical, protects the oil well, and prevents you from having to open loose bottles constantly.
