Herkomst en achtergrond
Caixeiro Organic comes from the Portuguese family business Soresa. The oil is produced in Trás-os-Montes, an officially protected PDO/DOP area in the northeast of Portugal. This means that the origin, olive varieties used, and production methods must comply with established regulations.
The blend of olives consists of traditional Portuguese olive varieties from this region: Cobrançosa, Madural, and Verdeal Transmontanas. It is almost the same oil as Caixeiro Signature, but with a slightly different composition and harvest time. This makes Caixeiro Organic somewhat rounder and more accessible in character.
The olives are harvested manually and processed within 12 hours of picking. This helps to preserve freshness, aromas, and quality. Independent analysis confirms the extra virgin quality: the oil has a very low acidity of 0.14. Undeniably an excellent extra virgin olive oil.
Caixeiro Organic is partially filtered: impurities are removed, while the character of the oil is preserved. An honest, delicious, and versatile organic extra virgin olive oil for daily use. Simply well-made, without fuss.
Smaak & gebruik
Taste: medium fruity, fresh and approachable, with green notes and a slight spiciness. The oil has a rounded flavor, mild bitterness, and a refined peppery finish.
Cold use: over and with anything you like. Salads, bread, tomatoes, grilled vegetables, pasta, soup, legumes, or potatoes.
Hot use: Yes, widely applicable for baking, roasting, grilling, stews, and casseroles.
Great for the table, but also simply handy in the kitchen.
Kwaliteit & analyse
Caixeiro Organic also performs well on paper. The oil has been independently analyzed and received an extra virgin rating in the official taste test, with no defects detected. Its fruitiness was rated 5.3, which aligns with the medium fruity character of this oil.
The acidity is very low at 0.14%. For comparison, extra virgin olive oil is legally allowed to contain a maximum of 0.8% free fatty acids. The peroxide value is also low at 3.9 meq O₂/kg, a value that indicates oxidation and careful handling of the oil.
In short: this is not only a delicious, accessible organic olive oil, but also one whose analysis confirms it is genuinely extra virgin. No spectacular marketing story, just solid numbers.
